THREE DIMENSIONAL DESIGN

3D design is based on the elaboration of a three dimensional model or also known as a virtual model, these make reference to a volume and possess an infinite number of primitive volumes that form more complex volumes.

3D models are especially used in engineering for the development of large projects. The main advantage of virtual construction is that all the involved disciplines in a project can perform their design in a coordinated effort and thus early find any evidence of difficulties or conflict that could arise during the actual construction, so the main drive of 3D modelling is to save time, money, man hours and materials surpluses.

When the 3D design system is conveniently configured it is possible to query the model to obtain all kind of information such as material takeoffs, specific materials and equipment lists, orthographic and isometric drawings, etc.

The main platforms used in the national market, especially in engineering companies, are: PDMS and E3D provided by Avena and SmartPlant 3D or S3D from Intergraph.

While these tools have succeeded in changing the design paradigms and have demonstrated their contribution to engineering, construction and operation of the mining plants as well as in the engineering and construction in general, these tools are not utilized to their full potential, besides the possibility to incorporate databases for concrete, structural steel, piping, electrical materials and others, it is also possible to incorporate customized menus and attributes, define progress control methods, linking references from other platforms and many other options.  Itrokom offers to take the maximum advantage out of these tools to further increase the benefits of 3D design.
